Studio refresh and future plans!

Hey all!

Hope you're having a great first part of 2026. Over the years, many people have noticed (and been quite upset by) my wobbly tables - especially with rapid modern 3D printers shaking them about! The room I use as a studio has been long overdue for a refresh, so I got to work.

It turns out that this instability was mostly caused by the aging carpet and thick foam layer below it. This made all the furniture on top bouncy difficult to stabilise safety. On top of that, the old carpet had been wreaking havoc on my allergies with this fine grey powder coming out of it, so I decided it was finally time to rip it all up for good. I'm glad I did...

The process revealed a huge pile of disgusting "sand" which was actually the carpet backing crumbling away. Super gross. Surprisingly there was wood parquet flooring below, and it's in decent shape. Very happy with that discovery.

I also took the opportunity to paint a nice grey over the beige which was always identical to my skin tone on camera. I think it makes our boy Prince look quite dapper as well!

Unfortunately, the new wood floor revived my old nemisis - room reverb 😭. I went and bought a nice shagpile carpet to help with that for now. The cats love it!

There's still plenty more work to do, like additional sound treatment and some pretty lights (maybe even a big LED logo!), but it's all coming together nicely.

Massive thanks for sticking with me through these turbulent times. I've got many projects in the works for year, as well as upcoming reviews of the QIDI Max4 and Creality Spark I7. They have agreed to my terms for a proper unpaid and unbiased review - so I'm very interested to see how that pans out.

As always, if you have any requests, questions or comments - please let me know! I'm more than happy to help.

Looks like an excellent room makeover Angus! It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint and a little elbow grease can do to make a space feel fresh and new. Looking forward to your next video!

Cheers Matt! It was a tonne of work but feels good to have a clean space to work out of.
